How to get there ?

Stāmeriena castle is situated nearly 200 km away from Riga.

The easiest and fastest way is going along Vidzeme highway (A2) until Smiltene roundabout, turn left in the direction of Gulbene on motorway P27. From Gulbene you continue along motorway to Balvi (P35) as far as the sign to Stāmeriena showing left. It will take just about 2,6 km and you are in Stāmeriena!

Using public transport (bus routes Rīga – Balvi, Rīga- Baltinava, Rīga – Viļaka, Rīga – Žīguri, Valmiera – Rēzekne, Cēsis – Kārsava, Gulbene- Alūksne, Gulbene – Daugavpils and others) you can get to the turning to Stāmeriena. See bus timetable at the site www.1188.lv

You can get to Stāmeriena also going by Gulbene – Alūksne narrow gauge railway train. But take into account – railway station is about 3 km away from the castle. Train timetable see on the site www.banitis.lv
